Let’s make our news sites simpler … not more complicated

There have been four UK newspaper websites relaunches in the last week or so - telegraph.co.uk, sun online, mirror.co.uk and some more bits of guardian.co.uk. And all of them show that despite the PR about integrated newsrooms, web-first publishing and the abandoning of old business models, the newspaper mindset is alive and well at our primary information gatherers.
With the exception of the Telegraph, all of them have made their summary, section or index pages (the front pages, the news page, the sports page etc) more complex. The Mirror and The Sun are particularly good examples of this.
